1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Layli (“Layli,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our educational platform, website (https://layli.me), and associated services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service. The Service is provided to you on behalf of your educational institution (“School”).

2. Description of Service
The Layli Platform is a service designed to connect teachers and students. It enables teachers to use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate lesson summaries, revisions, and homework assignments based on the School’s curriculum. Students can access these materials, submit their work, and receive automated grades and feedback through the platform.

3. User Accounts

  • Account Creation: Accounts for teachers and students are created and managed by the administration of your School.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account password and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify your School immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. Layli hashes all user passwords and is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.
  • Account Responsibility: Your School is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the information provided during account creation and for managing user access.

4. User Conduct and Responsibilities
You agree to use the Service only for lawful, educational purposes. You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose or for the benefit of any third party.
  • Upload, post, or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Violate any principles of academic integrity. The AI-powered tools are intended to support learning, not to facilitate academic dishonesty.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users’ accounts, or our computer systems or networks.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

  • Our Platform: Layli and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in and to the Service, including all related software, technology, branding, and content generated by Layli (excluding User Content).
  • User Content: You (or your School) retain ownership of the content you create and submit to the Service, such as homework answers and teacher-provided materials (“User Content”). By using the Service, you grant Layli a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service.
  • AI-Generated Content: The lesson summaries, revisions, and other materials generated by the AI are for your educational use within the Service. You may not distribute, sell, or otherwise commercialize this content without prior written permission from Layli.

6. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party AI providers, including Google (Gemini) and OpenAI, to provide automated assessment and feedback. Your use of these features is subject to the terms and conditions of these third parties. Layli is not responsible for the performance, accuracy, or policies of these third-party services.

7. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information in connection with the Service is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

8. Termination

  • Termination by School: Your School may terminate or suspend your account at any time.
  • Termination by Layli: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a manner that could cause us legal liability or disrupt others’ use of the Service.
  • Effect of Termination: Upon termination, your right to access and use the Service will cease immediately. Data retention following termination is governed by our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

  • “As Is” Service: The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • AI Content Disclaimer: The AI-generated content and automated grading are provided as educational tools. We do not warrant their accuracy, completeness, or reliability. They are intended to supplement, not replace, the professional judgment of teachers.
  • Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Layli shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (a) your use of the Service; (b) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; or (c) unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content.

10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Layli, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or by posting a notice on our website prior to the change becoming effective. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Somaliland, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Borama, Awdal, Somaliland.
